چکیده

There is an abundance of clay deposit in Ire Ekiti which can serve as geopolymer source material and Palm kernel shell exists a massive agro waste South Western Nigeria. This study evaluates the effect palm ash (PKSA) additive on compressive strength concrete. The objective to determine selected properties obtained concrete at room temperature. was burned 650oC for 2 hours furnace. Natural collected from manually pulverized, air dried calcined furnace 750o hours. prepared mixing ratio 1:2:3. constituents were (source material), 12M NaOH Na2SiO3 (ratio 2:5), river sand 12.5mm granite fine coarse aggregates respectively while PKSA 0%,7.5% 15% Clay content used preparing specimens cured ambient temperature till testing different maturity ages 7, 14 28 days. It generally observed that increasing percentage strongly improved gain with At days maturity, 7.5% addition by 166% 181% increase. highest 7.67N/mm2 day. Conclusively, are viable production. be practically applied like conventional structural work especially rural community where cement needs transported over kilometers. Also, performing well makes it cost effective compare most geopolymers require heating high recommended further durability should done.

The Use of Palm Kernel Shell and Ash for Concrete Production

Abstract—This work reports the potential of using Palm Kernel (PK) ash and shell as a partial substitute for Portland Cement (PC) and coarse aggregate in the development of mortar and concrete. PK ash and shell are agro-waste materials from palm oil mills, the disposal of PK ash and shell is an environmental problem of concern. The PK ash has pozzolanic properties that enables it as a partial r...

ALKALI Activated FLY-ASH Based Geopolymer Concrete

Considering the increasing demand for developing alternative construction materials, due to the growing environmental concerns, this paper discusses the feasibility of alkali activated geo-polymer concrete, as a future construction material. The main objective of this study involves observation of structural behaviours of the fresh fly ash-based geo-polymer concrete, understanding the basic mix...

The Effect of Different Parameters on the Development of Compressive Strength of Oil Palm Shell Geopolymer Concrete

This paper presents the experimental results of an on-going research project on geopolymer lightweight concrete using two locally available waste materials--low calcium fly ash (FA) and oil palm shell (OPS)--as the binder and lightweight coarse aggregate, respectively. OPS was pretreated with three different alkaline solutions of sodium hydroxide (NaOH), potassium hydroxide, and sodium silicate...

Preparation and evaluation of geopolymer composites containing alumina particles at ambient temperature and after heating

In this research, geopolymer composites were prepared using metakaolin along with silica fume and potassium hydroxide as alkaline activators and alumina particles. The effect of alumina particle size to achieve castable microstructure and their mechanical properties were investigated. Different Si:Al mole ratio (1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3) and K:Si mole ratio (0.20, 0.25, 0.33) were formulated and the s...

Fly Ash-based Geopolymer Lightweight Concrete Using Foaming Agent

In this paper, we report the results of our investigation on the possibility of producing foam concrete by using a geopolymer system. Class C fly ash was mixed with an alkaline activator solution (a mixture of sodium silicate and NaOH), and foam was added to the geopolymeric mixture to produce lightweight concrete. The NaOH solution was prepared by dilute NaOH pellets with distilled water. The ...
